Assisted Lymph Therapy
I am always on the lookout to acquire new, useful treatments and skills. When you come into the office I take mental note of your goals and when I see multiple people mentioning things I start my search for therapy that would be beneficial for you all. One of those therapies is called Assisted Lymph Therapy (ALT).
I first learned of ALT years ago when in NC for training for breast massage to assist manual lymphatic drainage. I was intrigued at the time and saw benefit to the treatment. I tucked that away and came home with new skills for helping clients manually drain breast tissue with massage. Many have found relief with that and I am grateful.
Fast forward about 10 years and I happened across a therapist in St Cloud who did ALT. I have always said that I like to get the treatments that I give. So, I have been getting treatment from her now since the beginning the year. The way that ALT electrically interacts with the body to produce change has been remarkable. Recently I asked her a few questions more from a. practitioner standpoint and she mentioned that she may be moving her practice to the St Pete area and was hoping she would run into someone who was interested in continuing it here. Hmmm…! Interesting…!
What is ALT?
It is a non-invasive technique that stimulates flow and drainage of the lymph system using vibration, light, and electrical waves. These stimulate flow by causing dissociation of proteins that have become trapped in interstitial spaces (toxins, cellular back-up, etc). When trapped proteins (not nutrient proteins, like in meat) release their bond, stagnant lymph is liberated and flows to its normal filtration and reabsorption channels.
How is ALT different than MLD?
ALT stimulates lymph deeply and quickly. Clients who experience limited response from MLD or who are looking for even greater outcomes would benefit from this treatment. ALT is administered with a set of probes that have noble gas contained in them. When combined with an electrical current and contact is made with the skin the body uses the components to act on trapped protein and other toxins.
Is ALT ‘better’ than MLD?
No. It is different. It offers another way to address the lymph system.
Do I have to have a problem to get ALT?
No. I am getting the treatment now and have no diagnosed issue. In light of that, I am finding that ALT is able to clean up my system in a deep way by breaking apart proteins collecting in various places, specifically joints and around organs for me.
Who is the treatment for?
General Inflammation
Lymphedema
Edema and Water Retention
Cancer
Heart Disease
Post Cosmetic Surgery – healing time
Cosmetic enhancement by fluid deposit reductions
Lyme
Pre and Post Athletic Application – decrease muscle/tendon strain and healing time
Enlarged Prostate
General detox and cleansing
General overall health
How long is the treatment? Can it be combined with a regular session? Cost?
Until I get all of the training and know more practitioner specifics, I anticipate the treatment length will be one hour. I could see it being combined with other treatment in a 100min session. Cost for the treatment will be the same as other treatments.
As I was listening to a podcast today by Dr Chris Motley on parasites and how they affect your veins he spoke briefly about ALT (link provided). I was encouraged to hear his positive comments about the therapy. Though I am still in the planning and thinking stage of this I hope that being able to get this treatment in the future interests you. There is training and equipment involved so this will take a little time. I will keep you posted.
Most Sincerely,
Monica
