Do You Love Fascia Like I Love Fascia?
I had a delightful conversation with a new client about fascia and one thing she said was, “Wow, I never knew we even had fascia!”
That’s not the first time I’ve heard that.
Fascia is everywhere in the body – like ivy growing on an old building! It gives the body form; it provides scaffolding for body systems. Imagine a giant spider web in your body with organs and vessels nestled and suspended throughout.
The continuous nature of fascia – like a roll of paper towels – allows for the interconnectivity of the body. A distortion in the right hip, for example, can lead to pain in the left shoulder area. Injury that requires scar tissue formation can be an issue because as fascia restores itself it can form adhesions between structures that should remain free. This is a fairly common ‘side effect’ of surgery and why therapeutic massage therapy can be beneficial.
Remember…therapeutic does NOT mean ‘deep’! It means treatment is goal oriented and specifically applied to create change in the body.
Massage is not a splurge.
Massage is a wellness tool that builds health.
