Treatment Considerations for Visceral Manipulation

1. Visceral Manipulation (VM) is characterized by high precision and minimal force.

2. With VM a little goes a long way. Affects of any work on organs can show up even 2-3 weeks later!!! Needless to day, getting a session gives your insides A LOT to think about!!

3. An organ does not present dysfunction for 3-4 MONTHS!! after a trauma. Offering treatment prior to this dysfunction can be so beneficial.

4. VM lets the body speak. Dr. JP Barral says, “Oh there are so many things for the therapist’s fingers to dance upon.”

5. VM creates a wordless mechanical dialogue between the therapist and the client. We are seeking to wake up a little something with treatment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
1. Abdominal aneurysms
2. Hemorrhage or fracture
3. Pregnancy
4. Stomach banding or stapling
5. Hiatal hernia repaired with banding

PRECAUTIONS
1. Diabetes
2. Anticoagulants or cortisone meds
3. Varicosities

YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING…
Do I have to have a problem in order to ‘qualify’ for visceral manipulation therapy?
No. Remind yourself that it is the mirocmovement of life that add up over time and cause issues. Helping yourself along at any point is a great idea.

Does VM have to take up the entire treatment time?
No. It can be added in very easily. I often check in on organs as I see the need. That to say, if you wanted an entire session of VM, I can do that.

Does VM hurt?
No. Sometimes you may need to sit up or lay on your side but nothing should ever hurt. Abdominal work can be very relaxing actually.
