Avoiding Sickness vs. Health

Some may think that their objective is to avoid getting sick.  That is one way to do it.  But I prefer to define my objective as looking for ways to stay healthy!

Now you may think this is a matter of semantics.  It is AND it is a focus shift.  I have never heard someone who is intent on success discuss how they focused on defeat the whole time.  No.  They talk about an intent looking at what they want to achieve.

Granted this could tough if there is a current issue being dealt with.  But a choice is a choice no matter when it is made.  So, consider this your pep talk to guard your thoughts for they are the wellspring of your future.  Renew your mind.  Make health your focus.  Think about what you are doing and ask yourself, “Will this enhance my health?”  And if the answer is no than don’t do it.

Peppermint Essential Oil

The brisk minty excitement of peppermint to me is perfect any day.  In addition to its exhilarating aroma, peppermint (Mentha piperita) is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for supporting normal digestion, including promoting healthy intestinal function and gastrointestinal system comfort.  This explains why it is found in teas and ice cream (well, not really ice cream but I just thought I would throw that one in there!)

I have used this wonderful essential oil many different ways and over the years have shared various uses.  Here is a snapshot of my favorites:

1.  Add a drop of peppermint essential oil to herbal tea to help aid normal digestion and a drop to your hot chocolate for wonderful fun!

2.  Massage several drops of peppermint essential oil on the abdomen, place a drop on wrists, and inhale to soothe minor stomach discomfort. Coolness of the oil can feel ‘hot’ to kids and is best used aromatically instead of topically with them.

3.  Rub one drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses avoiding contact with eyes, and on the back of the neck to relieve a headache.

4.  Place a drop of peppermint essential oil on your tongue and rub another drop of oil under the nose to help improve concentration during test taking (and your breath in the event that you forgot to brush that morning).  A sip of water after the drop on the tongue is a liquid breath mint!
